Kelli Kurtz and Kori McDaniel are both graduates of Spring-Ford High School and currently reside and work locally. They both feel as though they have been blessed with good health and great people in their lives and understand that many are not as fortunate as them. They have always had a passion for helping children and giving back to their community. So, when an opportunity arose to put together a charity event, Kori and Kelli chose to work with the Make-A-Wish foundation, combining their passion for helping children with a night of fun and entertainment with the wonderful people in this community.
The concept of the event started when Kelli's wedding was cancelled in the Spring of 2008. She had already put money down on the event site to hold her date at RiverCrest. After cancelling over a year in advance, Kelli had to weigh her options- lose the money or put it towards something else. Instead of losing the entire non-refundable deposit, Kelli and Kori decided to use it towards creating a Charity Ball. They began with the idea of granting Three Wishes. The most popular wish (chosen by 47% of kids from the Make-A-Wish foundation) is a Disney vacation. Together, Kelli and Kori decided their goal would be to grant Three Disney wishes to three different children who are fighting for their lives.
The inspiration for the evening began with the idea of helping children. When deciding which organization to partner with, Kori and Kelli found a match with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Philadelphia and Susquehanna Valley. The 2009 "Three Wishes" Charity Ball was a huge success, raising over $12,000. There was nothing better than writing that check to our local chapter of the Make-A-Wish foundation at the completion of the event! Kori and Kelli are both anxious for the 2010 event and have set their goal to raise over $20,000! They are grateful for all of the continued support and hope to see you at this year's event.
